Viktoriya Yurjevna urgently needs kidney transplantation – please help
Viktoriya Yurjevna (Vika) was born on January 22nd 2001. She comes from socially unstable family, her mother was a drug addict and died in 2010. Her father is alcohol addicted, unemployed and has no permanent place to live. In November 2012 the girl was taken away from her father by court decree. Now Vika is an orphan and lives at NBH Nikolaiev Baby House).
Vika has inborn abnormality of kidneys’ development – polycystosis. Since 2009 the disease has been progressing. She urgently needs a kidney transplantation, otherwise she will die.
In Ukraine, by law, transplantation is only allowed between relatives. As an orphan, Vika has no relatives and thus transplantation has to be done abroad. The closest and cheapest transplantation can be done in Belarus and costs US$ 30,000 plus US$ 3,000 for travel expenses.
We beg you to help to save the life of Vika.
It is not clear that a matching kidney is available in Belarus. The first step would be to bring Vika to the hospital in Minsk for tests. If she is accepted by the doctors she will be put on a waiting list to receive a matching kidney, as soon as one will be available.
This trip will cost US$ 1,000 plus US$ 6,000 as a deposit once Vika is accepted.
We hope to do this really soon, as otherwise Vika might die before she gets a new kidney.
